Strain (Covid) More Frightening for India

It would be wrong to think that the cloud of crisis is gone. It is not right to play with corona infection right now. Because the new strain of the Covid-19 virus caught in India is even more frightening. Randeep Guleria, head of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS). He claims that the Indian species of the corona is much more endangered than the others. Not only does the infection spread rapidly, but once the virus enters the body, it can be very dangerous. Even those who have been infected with the corona once, this new species of virus can make a new home in their body. Even the presence of antibodies in the body cannot stop it.

This new Indian species of corona was first found in Maharashtra recently. A total of 240 people across the country have so far found traces of this new strain of the deadly virus. Shashank Joshi, a member of the Covid Task Force in the Maharashtra Government, blames the new species for the resurgence of daily infections in various states at the moment. Apart from Maharashtra, daily infections have increased in Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Punjab in the last few days. Therefore, caution should be followed, he said.

The central government is pushing for immunization at the moment to build immunity among a large number of people in 130 crore countries. In the first phase, priority is being given to health workers and those associated with emergency services. The second phase will be dominated by people with 24 crores above the fifties and comradeship. After that, the center has a plan to gradually bring the general public under vaccination. But in a country like India, it is not possible to build immunity on a large scale. According to him, whenever a virus changes its character, it develops the ability to avoid all the mechanisms of immunity. In that case, anyone can be newly infected even after taking the antidote.

At the moment, Covishield, manufactured by Oxford and Serum Institute, and Covacin, manufactured & developed by Bharat Biotech and ICMR, are being used for vaccination in India. The Russian-made Sputnik-V antidote is also on its way to clearance in India. Although they are able to temporarily control corona, their effectiveness against new corona species will be relatively low, Mr. Guleria said. In other words, people may not be protected from infection, but its effects may not be so harmful. He emphasized the need to examine the corona of as many people as possible, keep an eye on those who came in contact with the infected person, and send the infected to seclusion.
